Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki and Public Works Commissioner Kelly Williams announced that the City has ended its formal partnership with Recyclebank, the company that has managed Wilmington’s recycling program since it began in 2006.

Recyclebank offered incentives for recycling in the city.

According to a release, the mayor and public works commissioner stressed that the change in management to the City’s Sanitation Division became effective last year to improve efficiency and save money.

“The switch has worked flawlessly and city residents have seen no changes in Wilmington’s single-stream, curbside collection program for recyclables,” the release stated.

City residents will no longer earn Recyclebank points for placing recyclables at the curb each week. The Recyclebank accounts of Wilmington residents will remain active at www.recyclebank.com for a limited time and residents are asked to use their points as soon as possible.
