Heat wave to hit state over the weekend

Hot, humid weather is expected to lead miserable conditions in coming days, the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, NJ.

Scattered showers and storms will move through  on Thursday night  and into Friday, giving way to a hot and humid setup for the weekend lasting into early next week. Heavier rain is expected to the north and east.

Heat index values of up to 105 are to be expected in urban areas, with lower values in the surrounding suburbs and shore points.

Delaware is expected to see temperatures near 100 in the Wilmington area and perhaps. slightly lower temperatures elsewhere, especially near the beach. 

Philadelphia could see temperatures of 101.
