Delaware State Police detectives apprehended  Eugene Smallwood, 50, of Claymont, in connection with multiple thefts from a Wawa construction site that took place in January.

The investigation began on January 17, when troopers were called to the Wawa construction site at 1702 Rocky Run Parkway, north Wilmington.  During the next 12 days, ending, troopers investigated four additional thefts from this same location.

The convenience store-gas station off Concord Pike recently opened as the 800th Wawa.

Through various investigative leads and other measures, detectives were able to determine that a red Ford pick-up truck was tied to the thefts.  The truck was linked to  Smallwood  who allegedly was involved  in all five thefts that led to the loss of nearly $7,300 in building materials.
