Barclays names CEO for Wilmington-based unit

Barclays announced it has appointed Shane Holdaway as Chief Executive Officer of Cards & Payments US. Holdaway will be based in Wilmington and will report to Barry Rodrigues, CEO, Cards and Payments, and Richard Haworth, CEO, Americas. 

Holdaway joins Barclays following 15 years at Capital One where for the past five years he was the President of Capital One’s Canadian division. During his tenure with Capital One, he has held a variety of senior leadership roles spanning new business initiatives, internet acquisitions and Partnership Finance. He played a leading role in Capital One becoming the exclusive credit card issuer for Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd and overseeing the mass affluent and affluent segments for branded products.

Prior to his role at Capital One, Shane worked at McKinsey and Company. 

WSFS Bank names senior vice presidents

The commercial real estate unit of WSFS Bank has named three lenders from within its ranks to the role of senior vice president (SVP) and senior relationship manager. The new SVPs, Phil Hough,Ryan Schlegel and Ron Weingrad report to Joseph “Joe” Walker, Senior Vice President and CRE Division Manager. The new leadership team oversees the continued growth of WSFS’ CRE business, which has financed more than $850 million in commercial and residential real estate projects over the past three years in Delaware, Southeastern Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey.

Hough started his banking career at WSFS Bank in 1986 in the commercial credit department. After stints in commercial roles at Beneficial National Bank and later, Wilmington Trust, he returned to WSFS in 2010 as a Vice President in the Commercial Real Estate Division. He is a 1984 graduate of the University of Delaware where he earned a bachelor’s degree. He is also a graduate of the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking and holds a leadership certificate from the Wharton School.

Schlegel started his banking career in 2004 and joined WSFS in 2011. His leadership and expertise of the Southeastern Pennsylvania market has been instrumental in growing WSFS’ CRE portfolio in Pa. Schlegel earned a bachelor’s degree from Millersville University of Pennsylvania and he received a Master of Business Administration in 2009 from Alvernia University.

Weingrad started his banking career in 1985 and joined WSFS in 2006. He is a graduate of the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Pennsylvania and earned several credentials from the Wharton School, including certificates in leadership, mergers and acquisitions, and finance and strategy. He also completed a strategic financial leadership program from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation executive departs company

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation has announced that after more than 22 years of service, Elaine B. Bittner, former Senior Vice President, has left the Company. Bittner was a valuable contributor to the Company’s success and strategic growth plan, officials stated.

Better Business Bureau makes board moves

Better Business Bureau Serving Delaware has announced it has added four members to its board of directors with industry expertise in consumer and business banking, incorporation services and FinTech.

New board members include:  Ann Marie Archino, Barclays Bank; Barnaby Hughes, M&T Bank;

Catrina Jefferson, Corporation Service Company and Jason Swift, Marlette Funding

Gerard L. Esposito, president of Tidewater Utilities, Inc. will serve as Chairman. He has been serving on the Better Business Bureau Serving Delaware’s Executive Committee since 2013 and brings extensive private and public sector leadership as well as non-profit board leadership to this position.

BBB’s Board of Directors sees a passing of the Torch as Lisa Detwiler, SSD Technology Partners CEO steps down as Chair and Gerard Esposito(Jerry), takes over. Kevin Ognibeneof Sallie Mae assumes the position of Vice Chair.

The National Wildlife Federation honors local educator

The National Wildlife Federation has recognized Dakin Hewlett for her commitment to engaging Delaware communities in the protection of local watersheds and wildlife.

The National Conservation Young Leader Award honors the special conservation achievements of a young person who has worked to inspire change. The ceremony took place at the National Wildlife Federation’s annual meeting and 82nd anniversary celebration, held in Chantilly, Virginia. 

Hewlett is the Watershed Education Coordinator for Delaware Nature Society (DNS) at the DuPont Environmental Education Center (DEEC), where she engages the local community to help them better understand their connection to the local watersheds and guide them toward conservation actions that help water quality and wildlife. 

  An avid writer with degrees in English and History from West Chester University, Dakin also uses her writing and blogging skills to advocate for open spaces and wildlife, working previously for Sierra Magazine and the Alliance for Watershed Education. Dakin’s appreciation for wildlife and nature was instilled in her while hiking parts of the Appalachian Trail.

Avon-Dixon Insurance Agency recognized Jay Dayton for 30 years of dedicated service. Dayton began his career with Avon-Dixon in June of 1988. He is currently a Vice-President and works with clients to insure their commercial and personal assets. Dayton is a Certified Insurance Counselor and is licensed in Property & Casualty and Life & Health insurance in over 10 states.

BHHS Gallo Realty  welcomes Megan James Group

Andrew Ratner, Vice President of BHHS Gallo Realty  welcomed The Megan James Group to the Rehoboth Beach office of the Sussex County firm. 

Megan Honeysett has been in the Real Estate industry since 2005.  She began her career with Pulte Homes, a national homebuilder, in the Philadelphia area after graduating with a marketing degree.  In 2009 she made the switch to residential Real Estate and joined Prudential Fox and Roach in Media, PA (now Berkshire Hathaway). 

James Smith recently completed a long business career as a Sales and Marketing professional in the Information Technology (IT) Industry, most recently with Unisys Corporation and Vertex, Inc. Prior to his IT career, he was a high school mathematics teacher and also worked part-time as a Real Estate agent with an agency now part of Berkshire Hathaway Fox & Roach, Realtors.
