Cecil County government reports that more than 6,000 people will converge on the Calvert Park area for La Crosse tournaments during the next two weekends. A release stated that businesses should be prepared for an influx of visitors.
The county park is near North East.
The tournaments are slated for June 16th & 17th and June 23rd & 24th.
The impact of the tournaments could extend along Interstate 95 and into Pennsylvania since the county has a limited number of hotel rooms.
The county-owned park has a synthetic turf multi-purpose field, basketball courts, 11 natural grass multi-purpose fields, a one-mile paved trail, playgrounds, paved parking, and a concession stand.
Sports parks are becoming a source of tourism revenue in the region. Kent County, Delaware’s DE Turf park is off to a fast start in attracting traveling tournaments.
