On June 4  The Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles will release a license/ID  card design with images of everything from Legislative Hall to a blue hen.

The new design release is a part of the DMV’s continuous effort to provide licenses that are difficult to forge

New features include Legislative Hall prominently displayed on the front of the license, a new look for the federally compliant gold star, and images including a blue hen on the back of the card. The compliance feature is required for air travel and entry to some federal facilities.

“Keeping Delawareans’ personal data and information secure is a top priority of ours,” said Gov. John Carney. “The new features and updated design on the Delaware driver license and identification cards will ensure that our citizens are protected from fraud and replications of their identification cards in the future.”

“This new card design contains state of the art security features that continue to make Delaware a leader in secure credential issuance.  The new card design also contains features that are near and dear to the hearts of Delawareans like the First State Flag and State Seal.  I am proud of and excited to launch the new card design and would like to thank the DMV team for all their hard work on its development,” stated Secretary of Transportation Jennifer Cohan.

The current card design will remain valid until expiration, meaning both card designs will be in circulation until 2026.
