Hello everyone,

Once you have a news website up and running,  strange Emails begin to pop up. This week was a good example.

One pitch appeared with the following headline:

As Arkansas Erects Ten Commandments Monument, The Satanic Temple Prepares to File Religious Discrimination Suit.” Also sent along was the slightly scary photo above.

I hit the delete button, but not before copying and pasting the headline, and dragging the above photo to the desktop.

Not quite as strange, but equally irrelevant to Delaware is an endless stream of emails on the California marijuana industry.

Those who believe that the Golden State is a hotbed of socialism can take comfort in the nonstop pitches announcing  weed-based business parks, grow sites, etc.

It’s a similar story in Canada, a nation where the investment community is not living in the shadow of pot foes like U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Press releases and shady cannabis investment tips continue to rain down from the  Great White North. Keep in mind that Canada is also  the home of penny stock market for high-risk mining ventures and accompanying   investment  pitches,

A while back, I  got wind of weed fever sweeping northern Delaware as chances seemed to improve for legalization. Investors were reportedly looking at sites in Wilmington for marijuana growing operations.

The fever cooled a bit as revenue projections seemed to show legal weed would not be a game-changer for state revenues. Tax estimates come in at less than $25 million a year, chump change in a state that collects $3.5 billion in taxes.

Finally, we had the strangest email of all in a survey listing the top HBO show that was sent along by Frontier Communications.

The top pick was not Game of Thrones, Ballers or Curb Your Enthusiasm. It was The Brink, a one-season show on the geopolitical crisis in Pakistan. (I don’t remember it either).  I suspect the sample may have been a little too small.

Enjoy the weekend. Barring a breaking news development or  Satanic uprising,  the next newsletter returns on Monday. – Doug Rainey, Publisher.
