Established nearly 30 years ago, Le Dîner en Blanc de Paris now attracts more than 10,000 people annually. The location is not disclosed, with patrons taken to the site from a meeting point.

Dîner en Blanc is now held in more than 70 cities in 25 countries, including Philadephia.

The Wilmington sponsors are hoping to repeat the success of the Philadephia dinner, which is said to be the biggest in the nation, according to a Philadelphia Magazine piece.

A lottery is held for a set number of those who put their names on the waiting list.

Wilmington will join Philadelphia,  Paris, New York, Hong Kong, Montreal, Sydney, Singapore, and Mexico City as sites for the dinner.

The Brandywine Valley area is no stranger to white events, with the Brandywine in White event marking its fifth-anniversary last year. The event benefits land preservation efforts in the Chadds Ford area.

A waiting list for the Wilmington event  has been established at  wilmington.dinerenblanc.com/register.
