Correva Agriscience VP to headline Inspiring Women in STEM Conference

Krysta Harden, vice president for external affairs and chief sustainability officer for   Corteva Agriscience  Agriculture Division of DowDuPont, will headline this year’s Inspiring Women in STEM Conference.

Corteva is slated to be spun off from DowDuPont as a publicly traded company headquartered in the Wilmington area.

The popular conference – created in 2013 – is designed to provide professional development and networking for women in all STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) related fields.

 Since its inception, the conference in Delaware has attracted more than  2,000 women from over 70 companies.  The theme of this year’s conference will be “Navigating Your Network and Defining Success” and will draw on the knowledge and experience of women leaders to provide tools and guidance to flourish in today’s business environment, a release stated.

The conference is presented by the Delaware BioScience Association and the Delaware Sustainable Chemistry Alliance.

Prior to  moving to  the private sector,  Harden served as deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), where she helped to shape food and agriculture policy,

At USDA and throughout her career in agriculture,   Harden has focused on expanding opportunities for women, young people, immigrants, socially disadvantaged producers, returning veterans, and retirees.

She also held USDA leadership positions as chief of staff to the Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, and assistant secretary for Congressional Relations.

Prior to working at the USDA,  Harden spent five years as CEO of the National Association of Conservation Districts.

She has also worked with the American Soybean Association as senior vice president of Gordley Associates, where she concentrated on conservation and renewable energy issues. 

Harden also served for  12 years on Capitol Hill, as staff director for the House subcommittee on Peanuts and Tobacco, and as chief of staff and as press secretary for former Congressman Charles Hatcher.
