A macaroni and cheese restaurant from Philadelphia is headed to Newark.
Mac Mart will occupy the former Salad Works location on Main Street in the college town, The Newark Post reported.
Mac Mart has a location in Philadelphia and earlier announced plans for expansion. A food-focused college website announced the new location last year.
The restaurant format features a choice of cheeses and toppings for the popular comfort food offering that can include buffalo chicken, crab, bacon and bratwurst.
Newark already has Mad Macs, a mac and cheese-themed restaurant and bar on College Avenue (Route 896) at the site of a former Australian-theme dining spot.
The Mac Mart location is slated for the Galleria retail complex next to the University of Delaware campus.
The Galleria project, which has longtime tenants like Grotto Pizza and Brewhaha, helped set off a wave of development on Main Street that remains a point of pride and a source of controversy for longtime residents of the city.
In the projects that followed, buildings were often torn down and replaced by a mixed-use retail and student apartment developments.
