Highmark Inc., a Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliate, announced that Highmark employees and self-funded commercial clients now have access to Livongo Health for chronic condition management.
Livongo uses an approach that combines consumer technology with personalized insights and custom coaching tailored to each individual’s unique health needs.
Prevalence of diabetes in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and West Virginia (areas served by Highmark) is 9.3 percent in 2015, making it one of the most highly impacted regions in the nation, a release stated.
The financial toll of diabetes in the area is estimated at more than $22.7 billion per year, according to the American Diabetes Association.
“We are very excited to bring the Livongo solution to Highmark customers,” said Vice President of Clinical Care and Wellness for Highmark, Lori Hough. “Offering solutions that make it easier for customers to better manage health care costs is a top priority. Livongo’s platform has the ability to offer timely insights and motivate actions that are simple, effective, and proven to change behavior, making it easier for individuals to manage their chronic conditions and be healthier.”
More than 350 large self-insured employers, health systems, health plans, and pharmacy benefit managers have chosen Livongo’s platform.
