The State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating a Sunday morning fire at a shopping center in the Prices Corner, Marshallton area.
The blaze, reported shortly before 5 a.m. occurred in the 3600 block of Kirkwood Highway at the Alpha Shopping Center.
The business was identified by WPVI TV as the San Marcos, a Mexican restaurant. The station earlier reported an arson attempt a few days earlier.
The Mill Creek Fire Company arrived on the scene with flames coming from the roof of a building.
State fire investigators were called to the scene to investigated the origin and cause of this fire. The origin and cause have not been determined, the Fire Marshal’s office stated.
Fire damage was estimated at $30,000. No injuries were reported.
It was the second shopping center fire in recent days. On Friday, a fire at the Dollar Tree store in the Beaverbook Shopping Center south of New Castle suffered $800,000 in damage.
A man from Bear was charged with arson in connection with the Dollar Tree fire.
