Middletown will go dark for four hours on Thursday morning.
According to a notice from the town, Delmarva Power is required under federal regulations to test its 138 KV relays that connect to the Middletown’s electric substation.
Power will be disconnected between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.
Residents and businesses were asked to prepare for the outage.
Middletown, like Newark, Lewes, Dover and a few other mid-sized communities in Delaware has a municipally owned electric utility that is tied to the grid.
The utility has expanded along with the town and given the fast-growing municipality some financial heft in attracting employers like Amazon.
