Taco pizza hotspot Iowa now has Dogfish Head to accompany their beloved dish


Iowa now has Dogfish Head brews to go with the state’s beloved taco pizza.

Dogfish Head co-founder and CEO Sam Calagione unfurled the flag of the Hawkeye State in announcing the expansion.

Iowa borders Illinois and Wisconsin, two states that have long been part of the Dogfish Head distribution pipeline. The brewery did have to pull distribution from the Badger State for a couple of years  after demand exceeded supply at its Milton brewery

 Border states  Minnesota, Nebraska and Missouri were recently added.

 “We’re excited to ship our innovative beers to Dogfish fans in Iowa and to begin a great and long-lasting relationship with the beer drinkers, retailers, and distributor partners in the state,” said  Sam Calagione. “We have our canning and bottling lines pumping out a ton of beer and enough brewing capacity to ensure we can keep retailers well stocked with our off-centered, well-differentiated family of beers for years to come.

Dogfish fans in Iowa can expect to see   90 Minute IPA, Namaste White, Indian Brown, 60 Minute IPA, SeaQuench Ale, Lupu-Luau IPA, Flesh & Blood IPA, Palo Santo Marron, Burton Baton, Midas Touch and seasonal releases. Limited quantities of specialty brews and occasional rarities will also be available.

Dogfish always offers food pairing offerings that in the case of Iowa include:

  • Taco pizza with 60 Minute IPA. This East Coast IPA features piney, citrusy hops that complement the pies’ spicy ground beef topping beautifully. Taco pizza, is a top pick in Iowa and can come with nacho chips, chilis, refried beans and, of course, cheese. The state’s largest convenience store chain offers taco pizzas to go as does regional player Happy Joe’s, which offers four varieties of the beloved pie. In Delaware, taco pizza is available at some shops including KC’s Pizza in the Bear-Christiana area, which has Italian and Mexican food offerings. It is also on the menu of Captain’s Pizza in Millsboro.
  • SeaQuench Ale is the perfect brew to pair with breakfast pizza. Its light, crisp, and slightly tart body works well with all sorts of breakfast foods.
  • Choose Namaste White with a slice of rhubarb pie. The beer features clove and lemongrass-centric flavors that balance the tartness of the rhubarb.
