One of the largest model railroading marketplace shows will come to the Chase Center on the Riverfront on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Greenberg’s Great Train & Toy Show has been making stops in Wilmington in recent years. Free parking and no sales tax have attracted model railroad buffs to the Wilmington site.

The show, while having a large number of modeling railroading stores,  is also aimed at the general public, including children.

Model railroading layouts from Northern Delaware Model RR and other clubs will be displayed, along with a roaming riding train.

A test track and on-the-spot repairs are also offered.

Train shows have become more important for hobbyists as the number of stores declines and online retailing replaces the traditional mail order business.

The average age of model railroaders has also increased over the years.

Admission to the show is cash only, with online tickets available.
