Delaware State Police released the name of the victim of an industrial accident in Claymont on Thursday.
Billy J. Burns, 62, of Claymont, was killed in an incident that occurred at Ocean Port LLC, at 6200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, on Thursday.
Oceanport handles salt shipments.
The preliminary investigation determined that Burns was operating a front end loader on an elevated pier. The machine, with Burns inside, fell from the pier into the water. He was pulled from the machine and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Burns’ body has been turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
