The Delaware State Police have issued a warning about an electric bill phone scam.
Several persons have been contacted and told they are behind on their electric bill and need to make immediate payment over the phone using a pre-paid card or credit card.
Prepaid cards often do not allow victims to contest charges, since funds are already on hand.
Persons receiving such calls are asked to contact Delmarva Power directly at their Customer Care Service number 1-800-375-7117.
In the past, electric bill scams have, targeted ethnic restaurants or related businesses.
