The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating last night’s fire in Slaughter Beach, that damaged several houses.
The blaze, reported shortly after 7:00 pm, occurred in the 300 block of Bay Avenue. The Memorial Fire Company directed fire-fighting efforts while battling high winds.
Fire companies from throughout the area were called in to assist.
State fire investigators are on the scene searching for the fire’s origin and cause. Two houses were destroyed and three other homes were damaged. No injuries were reported.
CBS 3 and other news outlets reported that a propane tank was a factor.
Fire damage is expected to exceed $500,000. The investigation continues, according to the state Fire Marshal’s Office.
