A site that tracks Internet domain names says the DowDuPont agricultural business is carry to the name Corteva.

The business is slated to be spun off from DowDuPont in the next year and a half or so.

DomainNameWire.com, cited name filings from DuPont that used the name in various forms, with some URLs having ag-related names.

DowDuPont spokesman Gregg Schmidt issued the following:

“We will not comment on speculation regarding the new Agriculture company name because no decisions have been made regarding names for the new intended Agriculture or Specialty Products companies. The company routinely registers a variety of domain names as part of standard business practice, including the names of actual and potential company products. We expect to announce the new name in Q1 2018.”

The business is slated to be spun off from DowDuPont in the next year and a half or so.

The ag business, which will be based in Delaware, includes the well-known Pioneer seed business of DuPont, the Dow Agrosciences business and DuPont-branded crop protection products.

At one point, it was announced that the business would carry a portion of the DuPont name. However,  it was later reported that no decision had been made.

As noted above, no  announcement has been made regarding the DuPont Specialty Products business, which would be the second business spun off from DowDuPont. The business recently gained former Dow holdings.

The third spin-off of various Dow businesses will carry the Dow name.

The three spin-offs would all be publicly traded companies that would end up on the Fortune 500 list of the nation’s  largest companies.

A Google search of Corteva indicated that the name does not appear to be used by any large business. A chain of massage training schools goes by the Cortiva name.

Also, the process of registering names that are not widely used is relatively inexpensive, meaning that DowDuPont could have other names waiting in the wings.

Interestingly enough,  the  temporary  DowDuPont URL had already been taken by an Asian watch company, leading the giant company to use the hyphenated  Dow-DuPont address.
