Raymour and Flanigan snapped up the former Christiana Mall-area hhgregg store as a site for an outlet store.
Hiring notices from the giant furniture retailer indicated it is looking for staff for the store, which would be the 13th clearance-outlet for the company, which operates in an area extending from New England to Delaware.
Work is under way on the location, which has been vacant since the electronics appliance chain failed to find a buyer and closed its stores.
Raymour and Flanigan opened a store in the adjacent Christiana Fashion Center late last year. It also has stores on Concord Pike in north Wilmington. In all, the family owned company is believed to have more than 110 locations.
Delaware is a popular location for furniture stores and outlets, due to the lack of a sales tax.
Other chains to open clearance-outlet stores in the Christiana area are Best Buy and Restoration Hardware.
Best Buy has a store at its former location in Centerpoint Plaza, across from Christiana Hospital and Restoration Hardware, which has an outlet at the Christiana Town Center. The town center is anchored by Boscovs.
Raymour and Flanigan is known for saturation TV advertising of its furniture and mattress offerings.
