Great Dames is launching peer advisory groups in Delaware.

According to a release, the  groups  “expand its  programs as a learning organization where women ignite and enhance their personal and professional lives.”

The non-profit offers popular programs such as the Great Dames Powerful Conversations Series and the Great Dames Remarkable Ideas Competition.

The non-profit also has peer advisory groups operating in Rochester,  NY  and Philadelphia.

The design of the groups is based on insights gathered from the Great Dames community, which is comprised of more than 6,500 women from diverse ages, ethnic and professional backgrounds in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Additionally, the organization drew on experience in mentoring programs to determine what women need in terms of support and skills.

“These groups are a safe haven and personal think tank,” says Great Dames CEO Sharon Kelly Hake. “Groups like this are incredibly effective because they rely on confidentiality, peer support and focused dialogue on helping women realize their own power and purpose. We are dedicated to helping women tap into their inner Great Dame.”

Each advisory group, which is limited to 12 women, is customized to the particular needs of its members. The groups also have a community service component that allows participants to contribute back to the community with like-minded women.

“Too often women put themselves last,” says  Hake. “We enable women to carve out important time to spend on themselves while enjoying laughter, wisdom, and sisterhood. Among the many reasons women join are to expand their circle of support; seek guidance in new ventures; improve success in male-dominated industries; and engage in introspection as they move toward personal growth.”

Great Dames is offering women an opportunity to learn more about the Peer Advisory Groups. A conference call is planned on July 31 at 5 p.m. so interested participants can learn, share ideas and ask questions about the peer group program.
