Courtyard Newark wins international awards from Marriott

Bill Sullivan is presented the Diamond Hotel General Manager of the Year by Callette Nielson, vice president brand management – Courtyard, Four Points, Springhill Suites and Fairfield Inns, and two other senior Marriott leaders.

At the recent conference of Marriott Courtyard General Managers in New Orleans, the Courtyard Newark at the University of Delaware received two international awards. 

The hotel staff was awarded the “Gold Circle Award” for excellence in the customer service areas “Overall Satisfaction” and “Likelihood to Return”. The hotel finished in the top seven  percent  of the brand and its more than  1,100 hotels.

Since opening in 2004, the Courtyard Newark at the University of Delaware has received  Diamond, Platinum and Gold awards every year. The hotel staff and student interns of the UD Hospitality Business Management program work to provide and sustain  excellence in  customer service.

Managing  Director Bill Sullivan was recognized as a Diamond Hotel General Manager of the Year  from  the Courtyard Brand, one of seven nominated from 1,100 hotels.

This best of the best award  was given  for demonstrating achievement in Operational Excellence and Hospitality Leadership Excellence.

 Consideration was  given to financial management, sales leadership, service leadership, community service,  brand standard inspection ratings, and  an overall satisfaction score at or above the brand average.
