Thanksgiving holiday traffic to and from Delaware continue to grow in 2016.
The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announced that during the five-day Thanksgiving Holiday period a total of 1,187,765 vehicle trips were made at the I-95 Newark Plaza, and the Biddles Corner and Dover locations of Route 1. The 2015 count was 32,592 higher than last year.
The gains were in line with travel forecasts from AAA Mid-Atlantic, Wilmington. A gradually improving economy and low gas prices were factors in the additional trips through the state. The state has also reduced back-ups on I-95 with an E-ZPass express lanes.
DelDOT continues to urge motorists to use the E-Pass toll system to speed travel.
