Applied Bank, Wilmington  announced the appointment of  Walid Maalouf to Applied Bank’s Board of Directors.

Maalouf is currently a Private Banking and Foreign Policy Consultant in the Washington D.C. area. His banking career span from 1988 to 2003 in Washington DC and in northern Virginia. He worked with First American Bank, Signet Bank, Franklin National Bank and Sequoia Bank.  Prior to  Maalouf’s Washington Banking experience, he worked at Banque National de Paris (BNPI) in Beirut, Lebanon for four years.

In 2003 President George W. Bush appointed Maalouf  the Alternative Representative of the United States of America to the General Assembly of the United Nations and from 2004 to 2009 he served as the Director of Public Diplomacy for Middle Eastern and MEPI Affairs at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).    

In addition to his role at Applied Bank,  Maalouf is the president of the Lebanese American Renaissance Partnership (LARP), and is a Knight of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.

SoDel Concepts announces promotion

Scott Kammerer, president of SoDel Concepts recently announced the promotion of Caroline Judge to the position of social media specialist for the company, which owns nine restaurants.

Judge, who graduated from Northeastern University,  joined the SoDel Concepts Corporate office part time in July. Before moving back to Delaware, Judge worked with the TJX Companies, an American apparel and home goods retailer. She helped with seasonal photo shoots, wrote creative briefs, assisted with the advertising for store grand openings, and worked on social media competitive analysis.

Judge, who majored in marketing, is responsible for the social media accounts for all the restaurants, as well as the company as a whole. Her duties involve working with the chefs and managers to create cohesive marketing campaigns for each restaurant and for the company as a whole. She also monitors SoDel Concepts’ presence on other sites, and she collects and analyzes all social media related data.

Carney makes staff appointments

Governor-elect John Carney announced that his long-time aide, Doug Gramiak, will serve as Chief of Staff in his gubernatorial administration.

Gramiak is a former executive director of Education Voters of Delaware, a non-profit advocacy group created to build community support for public education.  He currently works at Young Conaway Public Strategies, LLC.  Gramiak previously worked as the political editor at The News Journal after starting his career as a sports writer and editorial editor at the Delaware County Daily Times (PA).  He was Carney’s Chief of Staff in the Lieutenant Governor’s Office from 2001 to 2009.  He then served as Carney’s State Director in his Congressional Office from 2011 to 2014.  Gramiak is a graduate of Swarthmore College. 

Carney also announced that Sheila Grant will serve as Deputy Chief of Staff.  Grant currently serves as Carney’s Chief of Staff in his Washington, D.C. Congressional Office.

A native of Wilmington, Grant is a graduate of Ursuline Academy.  She has an undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and a master’s degree in public management from Johns Hopkins University.  Grant joined Carney’s staff in 2011.  Grant has also served as an aide with Senator Carper and a teacher with AmeriCorps at Nativity Prep School in Wilmington.

 

Worth & Company manager on ABC Delaware board

Worth & Company, Inc., a full-service mechanical systems company,  announced that Safety Manager Marie Wright has been elected to serve on the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Delaware chapter board of directors. Her three-year term will begin on January 1, 2017. Wright is also a Construction Site Safety Master Instructor for The National Center for Construction Education and Research.

As a part of Worth & Company’s safety team for nine years, Wright is responsible for evaluating the company’s procedures, facilities and equipment and implementing safety programs to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

Since 2009, she has been a member of the ABC Delaware chapter’s Safety, Health and Wellness Committee. She became its Chair in 2014. In this role, she wrote the initial draft of the ABC/Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Alliance Agreement and helped to negotiate and finalize the alliance.

She now ensures the successful completion of its work plan annual requirements. In addition, she is responsible for the development of safety educational programs offered to chapter members, and she is instrumental in crafting annual committee goals and ensuring they are reached. She has also been a member of the ABC Eastern Pennsylvania chapter’s Safety Committee since 2003.
