The Delaware Community Foundation announced that David Fleming, senior vice president for philanthropic services, has been selected as the Fundraising Professional of the Year by the board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Brandywine Chapter.

Fleming will be recognized at Philanthropy Day on Nov. 15.

Before joining the DCF, Fleming was the CEO of new and historic theaters around the country, starting with the Grand Opera House in Wilmington, Del. from 1978-1992. Twenty years after leaving Delaware, Fleming returned to assist the Grand Opera House with its development efforts, before joining the DCF in 2012.

“David is an inspiration to those around him,” DCF CEO Stuart Comstock-Gay said. “He is professional and graceful in his work to help people achieve their charitable goals. Even more important, his positive attitude and energy are integral in fostering long-term relationships with colleagues, clients and organizations.”
