Widener University Delaware Law School announced that senior member of its faculty has been elected to an organization of leading corporate governance lawyers from the United States and Canada.

Hamermesh was elected following a rigorous selection process. It considered candidates’ professional accomplishments and contributions to the field of governance through speaking, writing and other activities, according to the college. His election in this second group of fellows brings the ranks of the college to 69 fellows and honorary fellows. Through its programs, the American College of Governance
His election in this second group of fellows brings the ranks of the college to 69 fellows and honorary fellows. Through its programs, the American College of Governance Counsel, established in 2014, addresses major governance issues facing business enterprises, including challenges to traditional models of governance, risk management, shareholder engagement, and an increasingly complex regulatory and enforcement environment.
Hamermesh joined the law school faculty in 1994 after working 18 years as a corporate attorney with Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell, including nine as partner, in Wilmington.He teaches and writes in the areas of corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, securities regulation, business organizations, corporate takeovers and professional responsibility.
He spent two years serving as senior special counsel in the Office of Chief Counsel of the Division of Corporation Finances at the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. while on leave from teaching in 2010 and 2011.
