State alcohol enforcement unit named Agency of the Year

dareDelaware Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement (DATE) has been named the National Liquor Law Enforcement Association’s (NLLEA) Agency of the Year for 2016.

DATE’s creation of the Citizens Police Academy and the Youth Summer Academy that taught cadets various law enforcement functions, self-discipline and physical fitness, education on drugs/alcohol, the dangers of underage drinking and substance abuse and more, were cited as key factors in determining this year’s  winner.

Furthermore, DATE was recognized for hosting the NLLEA National Training Symposium in April 2016 in Dover.Alcohol enforcement officers and regulators from around the United States attended the week long training. Members of the Division spent countless hours organizing the conference in partnership with the NLLEA and the associated logistics during the conference. Several DATE Agents served as

Agents served as instructors, along with instructors from around the country providing training on topics related to fake ID’s, social networking/cyber space investigations, intelligence-sharing measures, gambling and special events enforcement to name a few.

The NLLEA is a non-profit association of law enforcement personnel dedicated to the enforcement of liquor laws and regulations. The association actively collaborates with state and federal level liquor regulators to promote new programs and practices ensuring a fair and legal alcoholic beverage industry.
