Chester, PA now has its first new  sit-down dining establishment in recent memory.

Uno Chicago Grill opened a location, just north of Interstate 95 near Widener University, which owned land near the campus that became the site of the restaurant, the online site Pivot Today reported.

An Uno franchise operated for many years off DuPont Highway in Dover, DE but closed in 2013.

The chain grew out of a well known Chicago establishment specializing in deep dish pizza.

Franchises started out with an emphasis on deep dish pizza, but have since broadened its menu as that type of pizza is not especially poplar in all parts of the country.

The company, based in Boston, had a rough patch after the 2008 recession, but emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings with a restructured debt load. The company website says it has about 130 locations.

Like many chains, Uno has been able to broaden its brand through frozen pizzas and other products.
