Stucco company faces big fine from OSHA

OSHAA suburban Philadelphia stucco company has been cited by OSHA for scaffolding  violations at a work site in Bear.

BC Stucco and Stone,  Upper Darby,  PA, was cited for a project on Route 40 and Salem Church Road.

Citations were issued for one serious and three willful violations.

According to OSHA, a compliance officer observed BC Stucco employees working about 18 feet above ground on a scaffold with a lack of fall protection, blanking, safe access and proper use of handrails.

One citation was due to the company not providing and requiring employees to wear head protection while conducting stucco operations on a fabricated frame scaffold.

OSHA previously cited BC Stucco and Stone on May 2  for violations at a Philadelphia work site.

Proposed penalties total $93,000.

BC  has 15 business days from receipt of its citations and proposed penalties to comply, request a conference with OSHA’s area director or contest the findings before an independent commission.
