At its annual holiday event at the University and Whist Club on Wilmington, the Technology Forum of Delaware honored its founders as it celebrated a decade and a half of work in the key sector of the economy.
The organization, founded as Digital Delaware, survived the technology bubble and opted for a new name that better reflected its mission that includes networking, seminars, educational events and more recently idea competitions.
Founders included the late venture capitalist and technology advocate David Freschman, who died earlier this year.
The technology sector continues to grow in northern Delaware, with some organizations offering homes and support for start-ups. A fast-growing area is “fin-tech” or financial technology as Chase, Capital One, Barclays and most recently Zenbanx focus on apps and other tools to reach customers.
The current chair is Rick Sommer, president of Intellitec Solutions, Wilmington. He succeeded Greg Gurev of MySherpa, Wilmington.
