Steinmetz named Chesapeake AVP

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation named Joseph D. Steinmetz as Assistant Vice president.

Steinmetz has more than  20 years of financial experience and 13 years of experience in the natural gas industry working at Chesapeake Utilities Corporation.

He joined the company as a Director of Internal Audit in 2003 and then spent time as the Corporate Controller (2005-2007) and Director of Financial Reporting (2007-2009).

He was recruited back to the Director of Internal Audit position in 2009 to expand the department and assist with implementing the  requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) for Florida Public Utilities Company (“FPU”), which had been recently acquired by Chesapeake.

In April of 2014, he was promoted to Senior Director of Internal Audit.

As the head of Internal Audit, Steinmetz has expanded the department’s focus to include increased operational auditing in addition to SOX compliance.  In 2015, the Internal Audit department assumed responsibility for the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function within the Company.

Before joining Chesapeake, Steinmetz was the Assistant Controller for Dover Motorsports and Director of Internal Audit for Dover Gaming and Entertainment, both located in Dover, Delaware.

Steinmetz earned a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Widener University and a Masters of Business Administration from Wilmington University.

Mullaney named to top county post

New Castle County Executive Thomas P. Gordon on Tuesday announced the appointment of Timothy Mullaney Sr. as the county’s new chief administrative officer, the number two position in the County Executive’s office.

Noting Mullaney’s broad-based and widely respected public service, Gordon said, “Tim will work well with Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Samuel L. Guy and Chief of Staff Jim McDonald as part of my leadership team.”

During seven years in the Department of Justice, Mullaney served as chief of staff for the late Attorney General Beau Biden. He also directed the Fraud and Consumer Protection Division and oversaw the Special Investigations Unit, dealing with sensitive governmental investigations.

In his prior county service – for Gordon in 2002-04 — Mullaney was responsible for the operation of the county law office, managing a staff of 17 with a yearly operating budget of about $3 million. Earlier, he was presidentially appointed to the U.S. Marshals Service after serving as a Dover Police Department officer, commanding criminal investigations, the SWAT team and other units.

Mullaney — a U.S. Air Force veteran who served in Vietnam and Operation Desert Storm – graduated from Widener University School of Law and earned criminal justice degrees at Delaware State University and Delaware Technical & Community College.

He succeeds former Chief Administrative Officer David Grimaldi, who served from November 2012 through October.

Quercetti joins Beebe practice

Beebe Medical Group and Beebe Healthcare announced that Kelli Quercetti, DO has joined Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialist,.

Quercetti  joined Beebe Medical Group’s ENT & Facial Plastic Surgery practice located in the Beebe Medical Arts Building at Beebe’s Rehoboth Beach Health Campus..

She received her Doctor of Osteopathy from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010, where she also completed both her residency and internship.  She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa.

Two join HomeServices

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach, Hockessin-Pike Creek Home Marketing Center, announced Jena Vaccarini joined as a Sales Associate. Vaccarini resides in Wilmington and serves New Castle County.

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach, Newark Office, announced Sharon Dowling as a Sales Associate. Dowling is a member of the New Castle County Board of Realtors. She serves New Castle and Kent Counties.

Huffman takes Wilmington Trust post in D.C.

Wilmington Trust hired David Huffman as senior managing director and senior private client advisor for the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. He will provide wealth management advice and solutions to high-net-worth individuals and families, business owners, entrepreneurs, and foundations and endowments throughout the Greater Washington region.

Huffman has more than three decades of experience in the financial services industry and has worked with high-net-worth families for two decades. Before joining Wilmington Trust, Huffman was a managing director and private client advisor at U.S. Trust, where he was the Washington, D.C. team leader.

Huffman earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ferrum College.

Hagen joins Lewes Technology Consulting

Marie Hagen has joined Lewes  Technology Consulting  as Senior Project Manager.

Hagen brings nearly 16 years of project management experience ranging from software development to construction in the federal, private, and non-profit sectors.

Fullman named acting chief of staff

Wilmington Mayor Dennis P. Williams announced that Cleon Cauley will depart the Williams Administration at the end of the year to pursue a new business opportunity. He has named Gary Fullman, a former top aide in the Frawley Administration, to succeed  Cauley as acting Chief of Staff.

Fullman is currently the Procurement Manager in the Division of Procurement and Records in the Finance Department. Previously, he served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Delaware Department of Transportation; Public Relations Manager for Delmarva Power; Chief of Staff and Director of Finance with the City of Wilmington during the Frawley Administration; and as a Vice President of Credit Administration with the Delaware Trust Company.

Cauley joined the Mayor’s staff in 2013, serving as the Commissioner of Public Works and the Chief of Staff during his tenure. He led Mayor Williams’ team through budget negotiations, development of the city’s strategic plan and ratification of new collective bargaining agreements with union locals. Beginning in January,   Cauley will establish the Cauley Firm, a boutique law firm, specializing in public relations, land use, personal injury and litigation.

Fullman will begin his tenure as the Chief of Staff on Friday, January 1.

Pepper named president of Longwood trustees

Longwood Gardens announced the appointment of Jane G. Pepper as President of the Longwood Gardens Board of Trustees. Pepper assumes the role after the retirement of Nathan Hayward, III, who served on the Board since 2001 and as President since 2003. Pepper has served as a Trustee on the Board since 2005 and as First Vice President since 2014.

Pepper retired in 2010 as the President of The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) where she led the organization for nearly 30 years. Her involvement with corporate and cultural institutions is extensive, including serving as a Director of The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc.; Trustee of the Natural Lands Trust; Chair of the Selections Committee for the Eisenhower Exchange Fellowships Philadelphia International Leadership Initiative; and a Vice President of the Royal Horticultural Society, London.

She holds a Master’s Degree in Public Horticulture Administration from the Longwood Graduate Program and a Bachelor’s Degree in Plant Science both the University of Delaware. She earned an Associate of Science Degree in Landscape Design from Temple University.

Capital One adds banking senior  VPs

Capital One Bank announced that is has expanded its commercial banking presence in the area with the appointment of two new executives to the Commercial Banking team.

Michael Prendergast and Drew Richards join Capital One as Senior Vice Presidents and will provide lending and commercial banking services to Capital One’s middle market and corporate customers in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Southern New Jersey.

Prendergast brings more than 25 years of experience in commercial banking to Capital One.  He previously spent five years at Citibank, where he was responsible for growing a portfolio of middle market and corporate clients in the Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Delaware markets.  Before Citibank, Prendergast worked for TD Bank.

Prendergast hol=s University and an MBA from Drexel University and resides in Devon, PA.

Richards brings more than 20 years of corporate finance experience to Capital One. He previously was responsible for originating and structuring credit and investment banking solutions to middle market and corporate clients in the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, and Delaware markets for Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Previously, he led an Origination and Structuring team in middle market Leveraged Finance at Merrill Lynch Capital covering the Western and Southeastern U.S. regions.

Before that role, he worked in Merchant Banking at CIT Group where he was responsible for the origination, structuring and distribution of debt and equity transactions to support corporate financings. Richards started his career with First Union Corporation and served in a wide variety of roles, including Leveraged Finance, Syndications, Corporate Finance and Private Placements. Richards holds a B.A. in economics from Rutgers University and currently resides in Medford, NJ.
