As soon as Wegmans opened its Downingtown store in 2003, the requests for a store in Delaware County began., a company release stated. The company has also done marketing work in Delaware.

“Shoppers from this area have been traveling to Wegmans in Downingtown and Malvern to shop for a very long time,” says Strassner. “That’s what makes this opening so special for us. We felt welcome here before the first shovel was in the ground.” This is the last of three new Wegmans store openings in 2015; the others were in Alexandria, VA (in June) and Westwood, MA (in early October).

It’s also the last new store Wegmans will open before the family-owned company celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2016.  The 111,000 sq. ft. Concordville store has a Market Café that seats more than 250 people (indoors and outdoors) and The Pub, a full-service restaurant and bar, with local craft brews, wine and spirits.
