Christiana Care promotes Vernick, Jasani

Christiana Care Health System has announced the following leadership appointments to advance the organization’s strategic aims and academic mission.  Staci L. Vernick has been promoted to senior vice president of External Affairs and Board and Trustee Relations at Christiana Care. Neil Jasani, M.D, has been named chief learning officer of Christina Care’s Learning Institute.

Vernick joined Christiana Care in 2013 as vice president of communications in the External Affairs Department. She has been responsible for strategic communications planning and oversight of all External Affairs functions and programs, including marketing, media relations, digital communications and social media, website, publications, government relations, internal communications, fundraising support and community outreach.

Prior to joining Christiana Care, Vernick was director of communications and public relations for The Wistar Institute, an independent biomedical research institute specializing in cancer research and vaccine development; the American Association for Cancer Research; and the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, the children’s hospital of the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions.

A former reporter for the Associated Press, she earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science from the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Jasani is also chief academic officer and vice president of Medical Affairs. He will retain these roles and continue to serve as the designated institutional official for graduate medical education.

Dr. Jasani is an associate professor of emergency medicine at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.

He has  a  background in graduate medical education, having been Christiana Care’s program director for emergency medicine since 2007 and assistant program director from 1992 to 2007. He  has served as an independent examiner for the renowned Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

Dr. Jasani graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his emergency medicine residency at Christiana Care in 1990.

He received a physician executive MBA from the College of Business Administration, University of Tennessee.

Wollman named Widener president

The board of trustees of Widener University is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Julie Wollman as the tenth president of Widener. Wollman, who currently serves as the president of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, was selected unanimously by the board of  trustees,

Widener has its main campus in Chester, PA and a law school in North Wilmington.

Wollman will take office as president of Widener on January 19, 2016.

“Julie Wollman brings tremendous expertise to Widener University, having more than 25 years of experience in higher education with a deep commitment to providing a liberal arts and professional education of the highest caliber,” said General John Tilleli, chair of the board of trustees.

Wollman replaces Interim President Steven C. Wilhite, who stepped into that role after the August departure of James T. Harris III, who left to become president of the University of San Diego.

Wollman has served as president of Edinboro since 2012, where she introduced a campus-wide President’s Listening Initiative, an inclusive and successful process that resulted in an updated mission, values and strategic plan, focused on academic excellence, faculty and staff development, and high impact learning practices for all undergraduate students. Wollman also established Porreco College, a highly successful satellite campus, offering associate degrees targeted to meet the needs of Erie’s urban population.

Prior to becoming president of Edinboro, Wollman served as vice president for academic affairs at Wheelock College in Boston, MA. Before that, she was vice president for academic affairs at Worcester State University, and dean of the Feinstein School of Education and Human Development at Rhode Island College, where she also co-directed the doctoral program and held rank of full professor.

TD Bank promotes Davidson

TD Bank, has promoted Ashley M. Davidson to Sales & Service Manager of the store at 2035 Limestone Road in Wilmington, Del. She is responsible for new business development, consumer and business lending, managing personnel and overseeing the day-to-day operations at the store serving customers throughout the area.

Davidson has almost nine years of banking experience. She joined TD Bank in 2009 as a Customer Service Representative and later served as a Consumer Loan Servicing Representative and in Retail Service Support before her most recent position as a Financial Services Representative.

A Lewes, Del., resident, Davidson is active in TD Bank’s LGBT Diversity Group, the TD Volunteer Network and WOW! Patrol, and has served as Financial Services Representative Lead for the State of Delaware. She attended Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania.

Blaskovitz joins Caesar Rodney Institute

The Caesar Rodney Institute announced a   new Co-Director of the Center for Economic Policy and Analysis, Dace Blaskovitz.

Dace is a former member of WEFAC, the Wilmington Economic and Financial Advisory Council, as well as a former Board Member of the New Castle County (Delaware) Employees’ Pension Plan.

Currently, Dace hosts Clear Channel radio’s “Money & Politics in Delaware” which airs on Saturday mornings on WILM and WDOV.  He also hosts an interview segment “Dace on Biz” for WHYY-TV’s “FIRST”. Previously, Dace had been featured nightly on WHYY-TV Channel 12 (PBS) as host of the local insert to the Nightly Business Report, focusing on regional stocks, a position he held for 16 years. He has written articles for Delaware Today magazine, and has also co-authored articles for the News Journal Business Section. He is a former SBA Small Business Journalist of the Year.

Dace will share responsibilities with Dr. John Stapleford, managing economic policy and supporting CRI’s economic goals going forward.

Adson named clinical director 

Delaware Guidance Services for Children and Youth, Inc. (DGS) recently named Angelo Adson  as New Castle County Clinical Director.

Prior to DGS,  Adson was with Intercultural Family Services, Inc. in Philadelphia where he served as the Chief Operating Officer in Training and Director of Behavioral Health and Evidence Based Programs. As Clinical Director,  Adson will lead a talented staff of clinicians working in the DGS Outpatient Treatment Program and the community-based Intensive Outpatient Program. He will provide supervision to the staff and have administrative responsibilities as well.

Adson has a great deal of experience as a clinical supervisor and program administration. He is on the Adjunct Faculty of the Master’s in Couples and Family Therapy Program at Drexel University. His extensive education includes a Master of Social Services in Clinical Social Work and a Master of Law and Social Policy from Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research and a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration from University of Phoenix-Philadelphia Financial District Campus.
