Milford LiveMilfordLive.com celebrated its fifth anniversary this month.

The online hyperlocal publication was launched by Bryan Shupe and Dave Burris in October 2010 with the goal of  “providing an in-depth look at the events and issues that affect residents and visitors.”

Both Shupe and Burris grew up in Milford and saw a need for another voice in a growing area that was served by two weekly newspapers that were owned by chains and had minimal staff presence.

MilfordLive also offers the weekly Milford Review electronic newspaper, the Milford Review.

The business model was adapted a couple of years later by Bird Street Media, the publisher of DelawareBusinessDaily.com and the Business Bulletin, with the website designed by Burris.

MilfordLive and DelawareBusinessDaily.com have no ownership interest or affiliation. Burris has since sold his interest in Milford Live.

Shupe, who operates a downtown business in Milford,  also serves as mayor. MilfordLive has a staff of four. The publication is supported by advertising revenue and access to the website, and the Bulletin is free of charge.  Click here for the full story on the business.
