Obama, BidenNew Castle County Police confirmed reports that shots were fired near Vice President Joe Biden’s residence on the 1200 Block of Barley Mill Road.

National press reports indicated the Secret Service verified the report. The Bidens were not at home at the time, but frequently return to the home during weekends.

Police were called to the area after  a report of shots fired in the area about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Officers set up a “perimeter”  and conducted a property check of the area and surrounding communities in an attempt to locate any suspects, but  were unsuccessful in their efforts according to a County Police report.

Officers   detained a male who was questioned but not charged.

Police then conducted interviews with area residents in the affluent neighborhood in  an attempt to gather more information and no damage was reported.

Officers learned a short time later there was a report of shots fired in the nearby area of Hoopes Reservoir.

Earlier in the week, security precautions were increased at New Castle County Airport after reports of suspicious individuals in the area. There were no indications of anything beyond those reports.  Although Biden likes to travel via Amtrak, the vice president’s jet often lands at the airport.
