Pennoni names vice presidents

Pennoni  announced  the promotion of  associate vice presidents and  vice presidents.

Belfint, Lyons & Shuman accountants honored

Belfint, Lyons & Shuman, P.A. (BLS), a certified public accounting and consulting firm with offices in Delaware and Pennsylvania,  announced that Steve Ritchie, CPA and Jordon Rosen, CPA, AEP were recognized as 2014 Delaware Five Star Accounting Professionals in the August issue of Delaware Today Magazine.

Delaware Today and Five Star Professional partnered to find professionals who satisfied 10 objective eligibility and evaluation criteria. Among other distinguishing attributes, the average one-year client retention rate for this year’s award winners was more than 97 percent. The 2014 Five Star Certified Public Accountants are a select group, representing less than 1 percent of certified public accountants in the Delaware area.

Bayhealth adds physician

Bayhealth proudly announces that Michelle L. Bretzius, DO, has joined Bayhealth Family Medicine, Smyrna. She is welcomed to the practice by Christina Bovelsky, MD, John Fink, MD, and nurse practitioner Sandi Voss.

The practice is part of the Bayhealth Medical Group, a partnership of  their clinical staff, and an administrative support team that operates practices throughout central and southern Delaware.

Dr. Bretzius cares for patients from infancy through all stages of life. In addition to offering primary care, as a doctor of osteopathic medicine she practices osteopathic manipulative treatment, or OMT. This involves using the hands to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or injury. It’s often used to treat muscle pain, and can help patients with a number of other health problems including asthma, sinus disorders, carpal tunnel syndrome, migraines, and menstrual pain. OMT complements, and sometimes may replace, drugs or surgery.

Dr. Bretzius earned her medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pa., in 2011 and a bachelor’s degree in biology from The Pennsylvania State University in 2007. She completed her residency in family medicine at Memorial Hospital in York, Pa. Dr. Bretzius is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.

Shore names chairman

CNB, member of Shore Bancshares Inc. community of companies, announced that Clyde V. Kelly, III has been appointed Chairman of the Board of CNB.

CNB has branches in Milford and Felton, Del.

Kelly has been a director of the bank since 2005.  He is the President of Kelly Distributors, Easton, Md.

Kelly is past President of the Kent Island Rotary, Prospect Homeowners Association, and the Maryland Beer Wholesalers Association.   Kelly also served on the Anheuser Busch Wholesaler Advisory Panel Steering Team, the National Beer Wholesalers Board of Directors and currently serves on the vestry at Old Wye Parish.

It is CNB’s tradition to rotate the chairman of the board every three years. “We look forward to working with Clyde, as we guide the future of CNB.  He is committed to the bank and the communities we serve and will offer solid direction to our board,” says F. Winfield Trice, Jr., President and CEO of CNB.

Outgoing chairman, Wm. Maurice Sanger has been a director of the bank since 1992 serving as Chairman the past three years and will continue to serve as a director of CNB.

Jeffrey E. Thompson will serve as Vice Chairman.   Thompson has been the bank’s attorney since 1986 and a director of the bank since 2005.  He is a partner with Thompson and Richard, LLP, a law firm in Centreville, Md.

Adams joins Morris James

Morris James LLP i anounced  that Meghan A. Adams has joined the Firm’s Wilmington office as an associate in its Business Litigation Group.

Her practice will focus on Corporate and Commercial Litigation.

Adams’ experience includes stockholder litigation, corporate governance, officer and director fiduciary obligations and the resolution of limited partnership and limited liability disputes. During law school, she served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Myron T. Steele, then Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Delaware.

Managing Partner, David Williams, said of Meghan, “We are thrilled to bring such a capable lawyer to our Business Litigation group. Her experience in both the Delaware Court of Chancery and the Delaware Superior Court makes her a great addition to our firm.”

Adams graduated from Widener University School of Law in 2007, ranking in the top 10% of her class and receiving the Dean Santoro Scholarship and Outstanding Service Award.

She served as the Articles Editor for The Delaware Journal of Corporate Law at Widener. Meghan received her B.S. in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2003, which she attended on a golf scholarship while serving as captain of the women’s varsity golf team.  She is admitted to practice law in Delaware and the United States District Court for the District of Delaware.

TechSolutions adds field engineer

TechSolutions, Inc., a provider of business IT support services in the Wilmington  area, announced that Joe McNerney has joined their firm as a Field Engineer.

Graduating from Penn State with a Bachelor of Science in Business, Joe has been providing IT support to businesses and individuals for nearly a decade.  Currently he is pursuing his Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification.  Joe started his career as an office manager at a hedge fund firm in Wilmington and has also worked for a Legg Mason affiliated global equity manager in a number of analysis and support roles.

State IT chief to take banking post

After leading the Delaware Department of Information and Technology (DTI) for more than five years, Secretary Jim Sills will step down to assume the role of president and chief executive officer of Mechanics and Farmers Bank (M&F Bank), effective September 1st. Secretary Sills was appointed by Governor Jack Markell in 2009.

“Jim has earned the respect of many throughout the State of Delaware, including the strong and capable team at DTI, who will continue to build on the efforts of the past five years,” said Markell. “While we are sad to see him leave, we know his exceptional leadership skills and extensive banking background will serve M&F Bank well.”

Prior to his current role, Sills served in multiple senior leadership positions, including chief operating officer of First Tuskegee Bank and president and CEO of Memphis First Community Bank (now Landmark Bank). For five years, he served as executive vice president of MBNA America Bank/Technology Sector (now Bank of America). Following this role, he founded Homeland Security Verification, LLC, a small employment verification company, in 2007.

“I want to thank Governor Markell for the opportunity to serve in his cabinet,” said Sills. “I have enjoyed my public service experience, serving the citizens of Delaware, and working with the Cabinet, Legislature, Judiciary, and K-12 school districts to enhance the technology offerings in the State of Delaware. It’s been a privilege to lead the staff at the Department of Technology and Information (DTI). We have accomplished and implemented many IT initiatives that have served the state and taxpayers well. I want to thank the DTI staff for their hard work and dedication.”

Gobeil joins Santora CPA Group

Santora CPA Group, a Newark-based Certified Public Accounting and Consulting firm,  announced that Kevin J. Gobeil, CPA has been promoted to Supervisor.

He is a 2010 graduate of the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting.

Kevin worked part time during the 2013 tax season and joined the firm full time in May 2013.  He received his CPA license from the State of Pennsylvania in January 2013 and is currently awaiting his reciprocal license with the State of Delaware.

Kevin is a key member of the firm’s Tax Department, as well as a member of the American Institute and Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants.
