Community Foundation announces four board members

The Delaware Community Foundation  named four new members to its Board of Directors. The new board members are:

Bill Dugdale, partner with the investment management firm Brown Advisory. Dugdale is a portfolio manager and head of business development. Prior to joining Brown Advisory, he served as a partner, client relationship manager, and portfolio specialist at Friess Associates, a Wilmington-based investment firm. During his nearly 20 years at the firm, he was involved in the investment management process and advised institutional, intermediary, and high net worth clients.  Dugdale is a graduate of Cornell University. He is a past president of The Next Generation of the Delaware Community Foundation and a current board member of St. Michael’s School and Nursery.

Daryl Graham, vice president of global philanthropy & community relations with JPMorgan Chase & Co. Representing the firm in the Delaware, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. markets,  Graham manages sponsorships, strategic grant making, and volunteerism that supports the firm’s philanthropic objectives. He serves on the board of multiple organizations and programs, including the United Way of Delaware, Interfaith Community Housing, and the Coalition of Organizations for Delaware Entrepreneurship.

He is currently the chair of the Delaware Grantmakers Association.

Kathleen Furey McDonough, who previously served on the DCF board from 2006-2010, including a term as board chair 2008-2010.

McDonough is a partner with the law firm of Potter, Anderson & Corroon LLP, where she both founded and currently heads the labor and employment practice. She serves as the chair of the Advisory Committee for the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware and for several years provided instruction to junior lawyers as a mentor in the Federal Trial Practices Seminar.

Since earning her J.D. from Temple University School of Law, McDonough has been named the leading Delaware practitioner in labor and employment law each year since 2003 by Chambers USA.

Michele Whetzel, chair of the Fund for Women Board of Trustees.  Whetzel previously served as Fund for Women’s vice chair, grants committee chair, and treasurer.  Whetzel is a graduate of the University of Delaware with a degree in finance and a minor in economics. She worked as a trust officer at American Guarantee and Trust Company until the birth of her second child. Since that time, she has devoted her life to volunteering and philanthropy.   Whetzel has served on numerous boards, including the Ministry of Caring Guild board, the North Star Swim Club board, and the Adopt-a-Family Board.

Zicarelli joins Santora Group

Santora Group  announced that Elliot R. Zicarelli has joined the firm as a Staff Accountant.

He is a 2014 graduate of the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting.

Elliot interned with the firm during the summer of 2013.

He will provide auditing, accounting, and a variety of tax preparation services to the firm’s clients.

Artisans’ names VP and AVP

Artisans’ Bank announced  that  Paula Ament has been appointed Vice President of the Commercial Lending Division and has joined the Bank’s Kent County Commercial Lending Office in Dover.  Ament will be responsible for managing the existing Kent County commercial loan portfolio and generating new business relationships for the Bank.  She will report to the Chief Lending Officer.

Ament has 25 years of banking experience.  She began her career with Wilmington Trust (now M & T Bank) in the Retail Banking Group.  She joined Artisans’ Bank’s Kent County Lending Office in 2004 and was subsequently employed by Mitten & Winters CPA firm assisting in the preparation of tax returns in 2005.  Since 2006 she was employed as a Commercial Real Estate Lender in the Kent County Region for WSFS Bank.

She is a lifelong resident of Kent County and has been an active Board Member with the American Heart Association and The Kent County Salvation Army Advisory Board.    Ament is a resident of Camden,  Del.

Colin Price has also joined the bank’s Kent County Commercial Lending Office as Assistant Vice President.  Price previously held the position of Assistant Vice President & Area Manager for the Bank’s Dover, Bear and Glasgow offices.  In his new position with the Commercial Lending Division, Price will be responsible for managing commercial business relationships and identifying prospects for new loan and deposit opportunities.  He is a resident of Middletown, Del.

Becker Morgan announces additions

Garrett M. Neeb joined  the Salisbury, Md. office  of engineering and  architectural  firm Becker Morgan as a Survey Technician.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from West Virginia University.

Eric J. Singleton joined  the Wilmington, N.C. office of Becker Morgan  as an Architectural Designer. H Singleton has  eight years of professional experience and previously worked as a Senior Architectural CAD Designer.

CPM candidate

Property Manager Lindsay Hall has become a candidate for the Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation through the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). Lindsay has been with SVN-Miller since 2009, and has handled in-house property management and lease administration for the last  three  years.

The Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), an affiliate of the National Association of  Realtors, is an association of professional property and asset managers who have met strict criteria in the areas of education, experience, and a commitment to a code of ethics. Sperry Van Ness – Miller Commercial Real Estate,  has offices in Salisbury,   Annapolis,  Bethesda, Wilmington,   Lewes, and Seaford.

3 join Estuary Partnership

Three professionals joined the staff of the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, Wilmington.

Melissa Bittner joined the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary in May as a program specialist.  In this role she leads programs, trainings and events that engage and educate people on how to make waterways cleaner.  She previously held a similar position at the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay.

She worked closely with community organizations and volunteers to promote new leadership curriculum and programs throughout the Delmarva Peninsula. Bittner holds a B.A. in arts management with minors in business and music from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Bittner resides in Dover.

The Partnership hired LeeAnn Haaf as its first wetland specialist.  This requires Haaf to assess the health of wetlands, which the Delaware River and Bay is losing at the rate of almost one acre per day.

Haaf earned both her bachelor’s and her master’s in environmental science from Drexel University in 2012. In her spare time she enjoys any type of adventure, engaging her artistic side, and spending time with family and friends.

The Partnership  also hired Joshua Moody as its restoration coordinator following a one-year fellowship.   In this role Moody evaluates the Delaware Valley’s restoration needs and coordinates a variety of projects to meet those needs. Moody is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in earth and environmental science at Drexel University.
