Ford joins DRBA board
The Delaware River and Bay Authority Commission welcomed a new board member as Vice Chairman William E. Lowe, III administered the commission Oath of Office to James L. Ford, III of Lewes, prior to the agency’s monthly meeting. On June 11, the Delaware State Senate confirmed his nomination. Ford’s term extends to July 1, 2017.

In 1987, Ford was appointed to serve on the Lewes Planning Commission and Housing Board of Adjustment and Appeals, beginning his more than 25 years of public service to the City of Lewes. In 1992, the community minded public servant won a seat on the Lewes City Council. Twelve years later, Ford was elected Mayor of Lewes, a position he held for 10 years.

“As both a successful private business owner and dedicated public servant, Mayor Ford brings a wealth of experience to the DRBA,” Lowe said. “We’re thrilled to have him on the Board.”

“Given his experiences, talents and knowledge, Jim is a tremendous addition to the Board,” remarked Executive Director Scott A. Green. “Commission service is a significant commitment and we appreciate his willingness to serve the people of Delaware and New Jersey.”

A graduate of Newark High School in 1971, Ford earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Delaware four years later. Since 1976, Commissioner Ford has worked in the Lewes area community as a self-employed contractor, specializing in historic renovations and custom carpentry. Residing in Lewes, . Ford and his wife, Teresa, also jointly own Kids’ Ketch, Inc., a toy store specializing in academic and creative toys.

The commission is comprised of 12 commissioners – six each from New Jersey and Delaware – who are appointed by their respective Governor.

Tevebaugh promotions

Tevebaugh Associates, architects and planners, Wilmington, announced that William Lenihan, AIA, has been promoted to Principal.

The firm also announced that Debra Traini and Shawn Crowley have been promoted to Associate Principal.

Lenihan joined Tevebaugh Associates in 2005 as a Project Architect and was promoted to Associate Principal in 2008. Prior to his tenure with Tevebaugh, he was a Project Architect and Project Manager at Jackson Architects. He brings design and project management expertise in the areas of institutional, public, and health care projects and recently managed the design of the University of Delaware’s new Health Sciences Complex on the STAR Campus.

Bill is a former AIA Delaware board member, and a current member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) where he recently presented the Health Sciences project at ULI’s Healthy Places Initiative Bi-Annual conference in Vancouver. He also serves on the architecture and engineering advisory board for Delaware Technical & Community College. He is a graduate of Norwich University where he earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Architecture. Bill will continue to lead office operations and project development.

As Studio Manager, Traini, conducts scheduling and coordination of studio staff members,a nd manages quality control of construction documentation. Debra was instrumental in field coordination for the recently completed Health Sciences Complex for the University of Delaware and is currently managing the retrofit and renovation of the AIG office building near Wilmington.

Crowley is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Architecture, and joined Tevebaugh Associates in 2009. Shawn is an active member of The Committee of 100, a volunteer at Hodgson Vo-Tech High school through the ACE Mentoring program, and is currently sitting for the Architectural Registration Exam. As a Certified Autodesk Revit Architectural Specialist, Shawn has guided Tevebaugh Associates in adopting Building Information Modeling (BIM) as their preferred method for design and construction documentation

Local attorney IP superstar

Novak Druce Connolly Bove + Quigg LLP, a national IP law firm, has announced it has received a national ranking and six state rankings on Managing Intellectual Property magazine’s 2014 list of “IP Stars.” In addition, ten partners from the firm have been named to this year’s list of “IP Stars.”

“This distinction is further evidence of the exceptional client service we provide,” said Gregory Novak, managing partner and CEO of the firm. “These honors are a testament to this reputation and speak to the level of talent we actively seek out and recruit.”

The publication recognized Novak Druce with a national ranking for patent prosecution and two state rankings: “Highly Recommended” in California and “Recommended” in Washington, D.C. The firm also received the ranking of “Highly Recommended” for Intellectual Property in Texas and “Recommended” in Delaware and Florida.

Rounding out its list of honors, Novak Druce received a “Recommended” ranking in California for Trademark Prosecution.

Rudy Huttz, of the Wilmington office of the firm was included on the 2014 “IP Stars” listing for their skills and expertise in practicing intellectual property law and their experience serving clients in various industries and technology sectors.

Sales director named

Arkieva, Wilmington, designer and supplier of the Arkieva suite of advanced planning and scheduling (APS) software products, which include solutions for sales and operations planning (S&OP), demand planning, inventory optimization, and supply planning, announced today the appointment of Garry Morton to the position of director of sales.

Morton joined Arkieva in October 2013 as sales account manager. In his new position he is responsible for the company’s worldwide sales operations and managing and identifying strategic partnerships. His primary focus is providing best-of-breed planning solutions for manufacturers who are seeking to gain the maximum value from their supply chain.

Morton has more than 25 years of experience providing business solutions. A substantial part of his career was with Unisys Corporation where he held a variety of senior positions. He brings with him a unique blend of skills including business acumen, solid technical understanding, business development, business critical program development, and a track record of providing clients with business focused solutions, according to the company.

Prior to joining Arkieva, Morton was with Heraeus Corporation, a precious metals company; as customs compliance project manager, he identified business critical customs compliance requirements and established teaming relationships (internal and external), cross functions, locally, globally, with suppliers and partners. He developed and implemented standard operating procedures (SOP) for all customs compliance procedures.

“Garry brings an ideal blend of experiences needed to fuel Arkieva’s sales and increase its global footprint,” said Sujit Singh, chief operating officer of Arkieva. ‘His knowledge of sales processes and best practices will greatly enhance our sales activities across the board.”

Morton has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois.
