Local, state, and federal officials are welcoming ‘The Greene Turtle’ to Dover and taking note of financing through the Small Business Administration.

The Greene Turtle is a restaurant and sports bar franchise with locations in the Mid-Atlantic. Other locations are in Rehoboth Beach, Lewes and Newark. “Often the cooperation of all levels of government is needed to make good things happen. In this situation the city of Dover, state of Delaware, and federal agencies all contributed to the successful opening of this new business. In the process 143 new jobs were created and another dining option for Kent County residents was added to the menu,” said U.S. Senator Chris Coons.

U.S Small Business Administration (SBA) guaranteed financing through lending partners First National bank of Wyoming and Delaware Community Development Corporation allowed the owners to purchase the land, building, franchise rights and provide operating capital for the business. The SBA backed two loans for the project; a $600,000 7(a) loan for operating capital, and a $2.3 million loan for land, building and improvements
