Monro buying Carl King Tire

Monro Muffler Brake Inc. is buying  a half dozen Carl King tire shops, in downstate Delaware and Maryland, according to industry publication Tire Business.

Monro has been adding to its chain of stores that operate under various names.

The publication indicated the stores will operate under the Mr. Tire  name, which it  is using along with the Monro name  in Delaware.

Carl King, based, in Camden, Del., has been in operation since the mid 1970s.

Monro has more than  800 company-operated stores in 19 states. The company is based in Rochester, N.Y. and stock is traded on the NASDAQ  over-the-counter market.
