The former headmaster of Tower Hill School has turned himself in and is now being held at Howard Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $1.5 million bail.

The Child Predator Task Force made arrangements for Christopher Wheeler,53,  to turn himself in to detectives  Friday afternoon at Delaware State Police Troop #2,  Glasgow. He was  arraigned via videophone by Justice of the Peace Court #2 and was taken to Howard  Young.

The criminal investigation was conducted jointly by the Delaware Department of Justice and the Wilmington Police Department.  A booking image was not released. The accompanying photo was released earlier this week.

Wheeler  abruptly resigned last week after his office and home on Mount Salem Lane in Wilmington  was the target of a search warrant.

According to a release from the state Attorney General’s office,   multiple computers and other digital media, along with other evidence, were seized.  Investigators found  multiple images of child pornography. Further details on the nature of the images was not released.

Wheeler is a composer and an amateur pilot.
