Alstom has appointed Wilmington native Amy Ericson as the company’s Country President for the United States. In her new role, Ericson will oversee Alstom’s engagement with U.S. policy stakeholders while directly supporting its pursuit of new business opportunities in the areas of thermal and renewable power generation, rail transit and electricity transmission and distribution.
“With 8,000 U.S. employees and major production and technology centers across 45 states and D.C., Alstom is well positioned to deliver the technology innovations customers need to advance America’s energy and transportation future,” said Ericson. “I look forward to helping customers and the broader U.S. market take full advantage of our strong domestic capability as well as Alstom’s global expertise. I also am eager to engage with policy makers on mechanisms that drive companies like ours to create high-quality jobs and catalyze economic activity.”
Prior to taking on her new assignment, Amy Ericson served as vice President of Product Platform Management for Alstom’s global gas-fired power generation business.
She also has held strategic operations, business strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and global marketing positions within several of Alstom’s power generation businesses. Amy has more than 20 years of experience in the global energy industry, having held previous positions with ABB, DuPont and ExxonMobil. Ericson holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
The company’s equipment can be found in half of all U.S. power plants. Its software controls 40% of the electricity flowing through the country’s power grid.
Williams named GM of 87ers
The Philadelphia 76ers announced they have added Brandon D. Williams to the front office. Williams will also oversee the Delaware 87ers as General Manager.
The Sevens begin their inaugural NBA Development League season in late November.
Williams joins the clubs after serving eight seasons in the NBA’s League Office, most recently as the NBA’s Associate Vice President of Basketball Operations. Prior to that position, Williams served as the Director of Player Development in the NBA’s Community and Player Programs department. He worked closely with teams across the league in helping prepare players for the demands of being a professional athlete as well as aiding their eventual transition away from the game to a second career.
O’Hara elected to board
NAI Emory Hill announced that commercial broker Jim O’Hara Jr. has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Commercial-Industrial Realty Council (CIRC) of Delaware. The announcement was made at the September CIRC Annual Meeting.
Jim serves as the Director of Brokerage for NAI Emory Hill and is a principal of the firm. He has been involved in the real estate business since 1972 and started Jim O’Hara Realty Associates LLC in 1999, joining Emory Hill in 2008. Jim is licensed in Delaware and Pennsylvania and represents all types of properties with a focus on retail.
OperaDelaware names engagement director
OperaDelaware announced the appointment of Jason Hardy as the company’s Director of Community Engagement, effective immediately.
Hardy joins OperaDelaware after working as a principal artist for nearly 50 opera companies. With a complimentary career as a business owner, consultant, lecturer, and educator, he brings a diverse and unique background in creative collaboration and executive responsibility. In his new role with OperaDelaware, Hardy will be responsible for donor relationships, corporate relations, and community education programming.
“I am thrilled to join OperaDelaware, and I look forward to sharing the story of this great company,” Hardy said. “There are so many good opportunities to excite current audiences, inspire new opera lovers, and generate support. I’m eager to get started.”
Hardy had an 18-year performance career as a principal artist at companies and venues, including Carnegie Hall, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Kennedy Center, and the New York City Opera.
Hardy appears on several recordings, was a regional finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and Grand Prize-winner of the Florida Grand Opera Competition. Hardy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Emory University, and a Master’s degree and Artist Diploma in Music from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He also has studied business administration.

Drake elected
NAI Emory Hill announced that commercial real estate agent Emily Drake has been elected President of the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals Network. Her new one-year term begins in September.
Emily has been with Emory Hill for several months and has experience in sales and marketing and a Bachelor of Science degree in Leadership from the University of Delaware. She represents all types of property transactions from Emory Hill’s corporate offices in New Castle.
Easter Seals directors named
Easter Seals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore recently welcomed Roger Harrell, of Stevensville, Md.; Rotary 7630 District Governor Representative Dan Houghtaling, of Dover; Keith Kepplinger, of Middletown; and Thomas Webb, of Chestertown, Md., to its 2013 Board of Directors.
Harrell, who has served on Easter Seals board in the past as the Rotary representative, has worked in senior executive Positions in several health care entities. He is currently the Chief Public Health Official for Dorchester County Md., where he has worked since 1997.
Houghtaling has more than twenty-five years classroom experience at the Delaware Technical and Community College in Dover, where he recently served as director of corporate and community programs. He has been a member of the Capital City Rotary Club since 2004, and is a Paul Harris Fellow.
Kepplinger joins Easter Seals with a history in working in the banking industry and is currently serving as a Commercial Lender – Middle Market for M&T Bank. Kepplinger recently moved to the area after having spent several years working for M&T Bank in North Carolina.
Webb, who served on the Easter Seals board previously, is the Director of Disability Support Services for The University of Delaware. Webb was a Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr., Foundation Disability Policy Fellow in Washington, D.C., and worked in the 110th Congress on multiple policy issues related to education, labor and disability.
