On Tuesday, Funland on the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk will close for the day so family members can attend services in Hershey, Pa. for its co-founder, Jean Fasnacht.
She passed away in Rehoboth at the age of 84.
Fasnacht and her husband purchased the boardwalk icon in 1962 and spent that past half century at the beach operating the small amusement park and arcade.
Owners took pains to announce the closing in print and social media sites such as its popular Facebook page to avoiding disappointing its generations of customers. With the exception of storms, the business has never closed during the summer.
The business, like its neighbor the Gus and Gus food spot, remain mainstays on the boardwalk as other businesses come and go.
