Ice Cream Festival returns this weekend

The Old Fashioned Ice Cream Festival at Rockwood will return on June 29 and 30.

Delaware’s largest family picnic returned last Fourth of July weekend with more than 15,000 visitors The 2013 Ice Cream Festival will feature an all-new layout and multiple ticket booths for entry, as well as many other improvements.

The event is being presented by Barry’s Events and New Castle County government. The festival returned last year after a hiatus brought on by county budget problems.

The event will feature

– Vendors, live music, local restaurants, crafters and local creameries serving ice cream.

Other attractions include;

– The Long Ranger and Silver

– World Frisbee Champion

– Children’s Activity Tent — hosted by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware — will include eco-crafts, competitions, water games and prizes. All donations to the Children’s Activity Tent benefit the nonprofit organizations working at the tent.

On the Lower Lawn, kids and adults can experience the Touch a Truck exhibit featuring industrial, professional and military vehicles. Main Street Rockwood will include local businesses vendors, eco-crafters, local artists, antiques and more. In conjunction with New Castle County’s ‘Buy From Your Neighbor’ program, the Ice Cream Festival promotes purchasing goods and services from locally owned and operated businesses.
