Frequent fliers know that Frontier Airlines has one of the most striking tail sections in the airline industry

The animals of the west have become a key part of the Frontier brand and the centerpiece of an advertising campaign promoting service from northern Delaware. The first flight is slated for July 1.

But would a Delaware blue hen qualify as a member of the Frontier menagerie?

Frontier Vice President Daniel Shuz says airport operator, the Delaware River and Bay Authority has been strongly suggesting the state and University of Delaware mascot for one of its jets.

A cake to mark Frontier’s debut at the New Castle Airport contained a tail section depicted a blue hen. The University of Delaware was also  present at the event, with President Patrick Harker and the UDairy ice cream truck stopping by.

Shurz says he appreciates the enthusiasm shown for Frontier and won’t rule out using the bird at some point.
