A property near the Delaware-Maryland line has been sold.
The site and a a140,000 square foot building that formerly housed administrative operations of plastics maker Basell was sold to a suburban Baltimore real estate firm, Blue & Obrecht of Lutherville.
Handling the sale was John Kaczowka senior vice president of CBRE in Wilmington.
The Cecil Whig newspaper reported the sale price was $5 million.
The building has been vacant for a number of years. Basell purchased the former Himont operation of Hercules.
The Whig reported the real estate firm will look for a tenant building, but if one can’t be found will tear down the center and build a distribution center.
The property is near I-95 and might be attractive to a warehouse tenant. Delaware-based Burris Foods, operates a distribution center in the area.
The property has been closely watched in the county as the possible site of a technical high school, The Whig reported.
