Attorney General Beau Biden’s office  announced that prosecutors have obtained indictments against four teens charged last month with the March 18th carjacking and kidnapping of an 89 year-old Lincoln woman.

The case  and its troubling details  drew national attention, The woman said  was  put  into the trunk after a carjacking. The victim  remained in the trunk for two days before being released. She was found in a cemetery suffering from exposure.

The cases against the four juvenile defendants had been assigned to Delaware Family Court since their March 20 arrest.  However, the Attorney General’s office chose to proceed against them as adults.  Following a review of the evidence gathered in the ongoing Delaware State Police investigation, prosecutors upgraded the original offenses and presented the case yesterday to the Sussex County Superior Court Grand Jury, which handed down the indictment.

The indictment charges 14 year-old Junia McDonald and 15 year-old Jackeline Perez with one count each of Carjacking 1st Degree, Kidnapping 1st Degree, and Robbery 1st Degree and three counts of Conspiracy 2nd Degree.   The indictment charges 17 year-old Rondaiges Harper and 17 year-old Phillip Brewer with one count each of Carjacking 1st Degree and Kidnapping 1st Degree and two counts of Conspiracy 2nd Degree.

Under Delaware law, the identities of teens charged as adults are released. Individual media outlets may have different policies.

The next proceeding against each defendant will be an arraignment in Superior Court, at which time their bail conditions will be reviewed.  No arraignment dates have been set at this time.  McDonald and Perez are being held in custody in lieu of $56,000 secured bond.  Harper and Brewer are being held in custody in lieu of $27,000 secured bond.

  1. She was on The View. They tricked her into giving them a ride home. She thought she was doing the good deed. Don’t trust anybody. No wonder people ignore strangers on the street when they ask for something.
