Hollywood has been making light of the model railroad hobby, with the No. 1 rated comedy Big Bang Theory, every so often, featuring one of the character’s passions for toy trains.  Before that, the CSI crime drama featured a serial killer with a model railroading scenery obsession.

While the enthusiast base is aging, the  hobby remains popular and Wilmington this weekend will be a stop for one of  its  most popular events. Greenberg’s Toy & Train show will hold a large show at the Chase Center on the River on March 23 and 24.

The show will feature 300 selling tables, 60 vendors and model train layouts and of course, tax free shopping. The shows are an option for enthusiasts to actually look at items for sale.  Online sellers are a big part of the industry and have taken a toll on hobby shops.
