New Castle County Police have arrested a Middletown businesswoman accused of stealing debit card numbers.

The suspect was identified as Asa Jones, 40, of the 200 block of Patriots Way in Elkton, Md.

She faces charges of identity theft and unlawful use of a credit card after investigators confirmed that Jones had used a customer’s debit card number to pay for a hotel room during a trip to California.

New Castle County Police Detective Perry Sorrels determined that Jones, of Live Love and Dance Studio, in the unit block of West Main Street in Middletown had used the information of one of her customer’s debit card to purchase airplane tickets, a hotel room, and a helicopter ride while on her trip to the Golden State.

The daughter of the 35 year old female victim from Townsend, DE, had been attending the studio since the end of last summer.

On Thursday, county investigators and members from the Elkton Police Department took Jones and into custody

During a search of the home, police found evidence inside the residence that helped tie Jones to other possible victims of identity theft. A search was also completed at the Live, Love and Dance studio in Middletown that yielded additional evidence.

Police are asking those individuals who were customers of the Live Love and Dance Studio to please check their credit or debit accounts and to call New Castle County Police Department at 302-395-2673 (ATTN: Detective P. Sorrels) or send him an email at psorrels@nccde.org, if they believe that they were victimized by Asa Jones.

Jones is currently being held by the Elkton Police Department while awaiting her extradition to Delaware.
