At the request of the developer, a request to amend the Newark rezoning  map to allow for construction of townhouses in a portion of a  an adult community has been delayed.

Also delayed was a request to change zoning from adult community to garden apartments.

The developer of the Village of Twin Lakes off Elkton Road on the southern edge of the city requested that the Newark City Council delay consideration until April 22nd.

The rezoning request had been on the Monday night agenda of the Newark City Council. The Village of Twin Lakes has been dealing with a changing real estate market that has affected sales of condominiums and other units.

A portion of the community that contains townhouses is now open to residents of all ages, according to the village website.
